If family reunions are a celebration of getting multiple families together then why not all celebrate under the same roof. A large vacation home with multiple rooms can be an experience one will not soon forget.

I remember my first one was in a house built around a tree. It was quite impressive. Since I was not married I had to stay up in the loft with all the other singles and children. Needless to say the loft was the loudest place in the whole house and very little sleeping was done.

In the morning, I would saunter down to the kitchen as that was my favorite place because that was where you find:

  • sausage and cheese balls stacked up like a paramid
  • pancakes piled on top of each other
  • every type of sugar cereal

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were fantastic! How could they not be when you get four moms together? Delicious food will be devoured!

After you were satiated you would jump into what I called the ‘Gathering Room’ as it was massive. But what I liked most was that you could walk right out onto the huge connected porch and take a deep breath of fresh mountain air while over looking the majestic scenery. The type of experience that is etched into your memory forever.

From here we would decide what we wanted to do as there was a whiteboard with all the activities that were planned or you could of course just stay there at the house. I went to go see the horses as the place we were at was Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. And if I knew that you could box your trifecta I would have had a free vacation.

At that time in my life, I did not think hanging out with family would be a lot of fun so I showed up right at the end to make appearance. Boy was I wrong. The next time we get together like this I will be the first to say yes. Do not miss out on one of the best experiences of your life … your family.
